Kyle Busch Heaps Praise on Teammate John Hunter Nemechek After Finishing 2nd to Him in NASCAR Truck Race
In the NASCAR Truck race, John Hunter Nemechek seized victory. In doing so, he fended off a late charge from teammate Kyle Busch. Needless to say, the 2-time Cup Series champion was mightily impressed. In the final few laps of the race, Nemechek found himself in the lead, with Busch bearing down on him.
On the final lap of the race, it was no holds barred between the teammates, as Kyle piled on the pressure. In the end, it was too late for the 35-year-old and Nemechek stormed to victory. After the race, Busch spoke about Nemechek and praised him to the high heavens for putting up a heck of a fight.
He said, “I don’t know if they really needed a confidence boost, but certainly I think it is. Eric [Phillips] coming back to KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports), doing essentially what I wanted him to do. Coming back home to KBM, and also having John Hunter [Nemechek]. He’s won with his dad’s team, he’s won in Xfinity, he wants to get back in front in the Victory Lane.”

Busch acknowledged that he and Nemechek spoke at length about this subject. This is why he was thrilled when the 23-year-old won. Kyle Busch also admitted that he was glad to see Phillips succeed on his comeback. He also said that the outfit has been a contender during every race weekend, so the win was a long time coming.

Busch confessed that Nemechek and company could have also won the Daytona road course race. Sadly, they came up short on that occasion. However, it was still heartening to see that another of his teammates could run at the sharp end of the grid. Now, Busch will be looking forward to Sunday’s Cup Series race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Naturally, he would love to grab a win on home soil, like his brother did last year.
