Louise Redknapp has revealed that her divorce from Jamie Redknapp led to her losing some of her celebrity friends as they no longer ask her to hang out like they did before.

The singer, 46, opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to footballer Jamie, 47, in her new memoir, You Got This, admitting it changed the dynamic of certain friendships too.

She revealed in an extract shared by The Sun that she had become emotional after seeing a friend she hadn’t met up with in a while.

She wrote: ‘I got quite upset and I told her I missed my girlfriends who I’d got to know when I was with Jamie.

‘It’s hard, because these women were my friends. We went on holiday together, went out for dinner together, and shared countless special memories.

‘While they still enjoy their couples’ nights out — birthday parties, Christmas dos, drinks and the like, I’m only invited for coffee.

‘All of a sudden, I’m the single friend who doesn’t get invited to the couples’ parties. When a couple goes through a break-up, it can become an awkward game of picking sides.’

Louise did credit comedian Jimmy Carr, 48, and his partner Karoline Copping for being the ones that have stuck by her and made a point of always inviting her to their parties.

She says Jimmy and Karoline always make it clear both she and Jamie are welcome at their events and it is then down to them whether they want to go, which ‘meant the world’ to her.

Louise added that it can be difficult seeing photos of parties she wasn’t invited to online: ‘I feel that everyone took their side, and in some cases this meant cutting me off completely.

‘But in a way, maybe it’s for the best. If they are the kind of people that don’t want to be my friend or keep in touch, that’s fine. It just shows they weren’t true friends.’

Louise and Jamie, who share sons Charles, 16, and Beau, 12, split in 2017 after 19 years of marriage.
