WandaVision: What happens in the season finale post-credits scenes?

What does the future hold for Wanda and Monica? (Picture: Disney)

***Warning: WandaVision spoilers ahead***

WandaVision left fans in tears as Wanda Maximoff embraced her inner Scarlet Witch and became the sorceress she was supposed to be – saying goodbye to Vision in the process.

In a series sending fans into meltdown with fan theories, it turned out the truth behind the world of Westview was far sadder than anyone could have imagined – with witch Agatha Harkness pulling the strings in a bid to get Wanda’s magic.

Eventually, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Monica Rambeau were eventually able to get into the Hex-ed town, and help Wanda realise she needed to let Vision go.

But just when everyone thought the drama was over, WandaVision delivered not one but two post-credits scenes to tease us with the future of the MCU.

Here’s what the credits scenes mean and what they could be setting up for future films and series…

WandaVision credits scene: Monica Rambeau and the Skrull

As S.H.I.E.L.D. tries to monitor the damage in Westview, Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) watch as their former snidey boss Hayward (Josh Stamberg) is led away in handcuffs.

Monica is then approached by an agent informing her she was wanted in the nearby cinema for a debrief.

But as she walks into the theatre, the agent reveals themselves to be a shape-shifting Skrull.

Skrulls were first introduced in the 80s-set Captain Marvel, where Monica’s mother Maria played a central role as the best friend of superhero Carol Danvers.

‘I was sent by an old friend of your mother’s. He heard you’ve been grounded,’ Monica is told. ‘He’d like to meet with you.’

The Skrull then points directly upward, with Monica looking excited and hopeful.

Many fans have taken this to mean that she has been summoned by Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) who was instrumental in the creation of Captain Marvel.

The last we saw of Nick Fury was in SpiderMan: Far From Home, where a Skrull named Talos was revealed to be impersonating him on Earth.

This was to cover for the fact that Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick was back on the Skrull base doing some work.

If it was Fury who called for Monica, then this could have a major impact on the upcoming Captain America 2 – as Monica has made no secret that she has been left disappointed by Carol, and hurt by the death of her mother during the Infinity War ‘blip’.

Monica was among the population who disappeared at the hands of Thanos’ snap. By the time she returned five years later, her mother had died, potentially alone.

It could also have ties to the newly-announced Secret Invasion series, where Fury and Talos have been confirmed to return to talk about Skrulls on Earth.

WandaVision credits scene #2: Wanda’s safe haven and the Scarlet Witch’s plan

WandaVision episode 9:
The heartbreaking finale saw Wanda say goodbye to her family (Picture: Disney)

After the events of Westview and ‘The Hex’, Wanda has set off on her own, and in the second post credits sequence, we see her living a self-imposed life of solitude in a mountainside cabin.

Sitting on the steps outside with a mug in her pyjamas, Wanda is looking far more content.

However, her new home’s front doors are covered in runes – which we learned during the finale stops all magic except from those who cast the runes.

Making herself another cup of tea, the rest of the house is then revealed to us, including a backroom where the Scarlet Witch is seen hovering and reading the Darkhold book.

Agatha had been tricking Wanda in a bid to get her power (Picture: Disney)

The Darkhold was introduced by Agatha, and in the comic book universe is known as the Book Of Sins. It contains an extreme amount of power, carrying dark matter from the Hell dimension.

Basically, the spells it contains are a massive no no.

Agatha revealed that there is an entire chapter in the Darkhold dedicated to the Scarlet Witch, whose destiny it is to destroy the world.

As the final seconds aired, we heard Wanda look up after hearing the cries of her children – who were zapped out of existence after she said goodbye to her created fictional fantasy world of Westview.

With Scarlet Witch coming into her power, it seems likely that this is how she ends up joining the characters in Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness.

Promised to become stronger than the sorcerer supreme himself (Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch), it could either be a positive or negative thing that they cross paths.

Is Wanda going to rip into the multiverses in order to bring her children back alive?

WandaVision is available now on Disney Plus.
