When is the Dancing On Ice final and why is the series shorter?
The most eventful season in Dancing On Ice history comes to an end very soon, after weeks of impressive routines, tumbles on the ice and coronavirus related dropouts.
Judges Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo have overseen a selection of skillful performances over the course of the run, but it’s not been without its problems.
The show had to take a temporary pause last month, after injuries pushed the producers into an enforced break.
As the issues continued, it was recently reported that there will only be 12 minutes of actual skating taking place during the second semi-final.
Still, there are thousands of fans looking forward to seeing how the series play out, and who will be crowned this year’s winner.
So, when is the Dancing On Ice final and why is the series shorter? Here’s everything you need to know.
Why is the current series of Dancing on Ice shorter than usual?
Dancing On Ice bosses revealed last month that it cut the series short following multiple injuries and dropouts.
A rep for ITV said: ‘ITV have taken the decision to move the final of Dancing on Ice forward by one week.’
They continued: ‘Our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times. Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is our top priority and we look forward to the rest of the series, on air from this Sunday at 6pm.’
It comes after a string of injuries and positive coronavirus tests. Rufus Hound was the first contestant ruled out of the competition after he tested positive for coronavirus in January.
Denise Van Outen then quit the series after dislocating her shoulder while in training. Towie star Billie Faiers was the third celebrity out after suffering a nasty head injury after falling and landing headfirst on the ice.
Professional skater Yebin Mok suffered a horror injury and left the show, before Joe-Warren Plant became the fourth celebrity to leave the competition after he and his skating partner Vanessa Bauer tested positive for coronavirus.
Professional skater Hamish Gaman had been forced to withdraw from the series after snapping a tendon in his hand. Jason Donovan was also forced to leave the show after suffering from back pain.
When is the Dancing on Ice final?
The final of the Dancing on Ice 2021 will take place at 6pm on Sunday March 14.
Dancing on Ice airs on Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
