WWE superstar Drew McIntyre has awarded Rangers with a custom WWE Championship to celebrate the club’s Scottish Premiership win.

The Gers won their 55th title after ending a decade-long wait but with just six games to go the trophy is on its way to the Ibrox.

Towering Scotsman McIntyre – who has been very open about his love for the club – revealed a special title is on its way to his boyhood team as he offered his support.

He tweeted: ‘We share a story of ups and downs, working harder than anyone else to get back on the path to championship glory.

‘Congratulations to @RangersFC, winners of the Scottish Premiership. This custom @WWE Championship is YOURS!!! #RangersFC (sic)’

WWE legend and NXT boss Triple H – who is a big West Ham fan himself – also delivered a kind message on social media as he shared Drew’s post with his own Twitter followers.

He added: ‘Well said. Congratulations to the winners of the Scottish Premiership, @RangersFC!! #Champion55 (sic)’

Custom belts are a big part of WWE history, and are frequently given to top NFL teams in the United States.

In April last year, Drew and the company honoured Sir Captain Tom Moore for his charity work, legacy and birthday by creating a customised version of the prestigious WWE Championship.

The special gift featured the company’s iconic logo, with special side plates to mark the hero’s milestone celebration.

The personalised plates feature the number 100 and the NHS logo, surrounded by a sweet message reading: ‘Happy Birthday Captain Tom Moore

Drew exclusively told Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘I am proud that WWE has created a WWE Championship title for Captain Tom Moore featuring personalised side plates to celebrate his 100th birthday and commemorate his achievements for the NHS.

‘He is a true hero who stepped up when his country called in World War II, and who stepped up again today with the same selfless courage and determination to help others.’
