Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has praised Meghan Markle for her ‘strength and determination’ after her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey aired on US television.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with Oprah for a two-hour long, no-holds-barred interview, where they discussed their reasons for moving to America and leaving the Royal family.

Meghan, who is pregnant with her second child, opened up about her life with Prince Harry and their son Archie.

She spoke about how she’s struggled with her mental health and, at times, felt suicidal, while also claiming to have experienced racism within the Palace.

Reacting to the interview, Leigh-Anne threw her support behind Meghan and praised Prince Harry for standing by his wife and their family and bravely speaking out.

Alongside a picture of Meghan, Leigh-Anne wrote: ‘What people may wish to believe and view as a “privileged life” let this be a lesson to all of us. When you become known to the public there is no safety net to protect you from what people can fire out and say about you.

‘We witness this all the time, particularly concerning women and more to the core, women of colour. Meghan has been dragged from the start and we have all witnessed it.’

The singer, who has actively spoken out against racism and made a documentary sharing her own experiences, continued: ‘I praise her strength and determination for speaking out on her experiences showing the underlying racism lying within the royal establishment.

‘I praise Harry for standing by his wife and child and being brave enough to say enough is enough, we’re out.’

Leigh-Anne encouraged her female fans and other women to stand together, as she concluded: ‘As it’s international women’s day, I wish to send my love and support to Meghan. Too often we disregard a women’s emotions and mental strength. No more. Today, I urge anyone within a position where by they feel silenced, underrated, overlooked or less than to speak up and speak out.

‘It was the best thing I ever did and I know there are women all around the world holding pain within, out of fear of not being heard and taken seriously. We owe it to each other as women to stand together and put a stop to gender inequality and race inequality. 🖤’

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty also threw her support behind Meghan and Prince Harry, as she defended the couple for refusing to be silenced.

‘I think if people feel they need to speak up about their situation, all power to them and I think the scrutiny around them, you have to just, in any of those situations, you have to just be aware of what’s important,’ she said on BBC’s Morning Live.

‘It is your family and obviously what they have made clear is they want to protect their family and protect their mental health and wellbeing. I wish them all the luck.’

Piers Morgan, however, was seen slamming Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah as ‘crass’.

He vented on Good Morning Britain: ‘I’m sickened by what I just had to watch. This is a two-hour trashathon of our royal family, of the monarchy and everything our queen has worked so hard for and it’s all been done while Prince Philip lies in hospital. They trash everybody.’

Piers had even questioned Meghan’s comments over feeling suicidal, which led to ITV, which runs a nationwide mental wellness campaign called Britain Get Talking, facing backlash from viewers.

Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah airs on ITV on Monday March 8 at 9pm.
