Piers Morgan ‘doesn’t believe’ Meghan Markle’s suicidal revelation in Oprah interview: ‘I’m sickened by what I just watched’

Piers Morgan says he ‘doesn’t believe’ Meghan Markle’s revelation that she considered suicide while pregnant with son Archie, describing hers and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey as ‘sickening’.

Meghan and Harry sat down for a shocking interview with the US talk show host on Sunday to detail the pressures they faced as working members of the Royal family, making claims of racism and detailing the breakdown of Harry’s relationship with his father Prince Charles.

Piers has been a staunch critic of the Royal couple and reacted to the interview on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.

‘I’m angry to the point of balling over today. I’m sickened by what I just had to watch,’ Piers stated.

The TV presenter continued: ‘This is a two-hour trashathon of our royal family, of the monarchy and everything our queen has worked so hard for and it’s all been done while Prince Philip lies in hospital.

‘They trash everybody. They basically make out our Royal family are a bunch of white supremacists by this race bombshell. They didn’t name any which one it was, they just throw it out there so it could be anybody. Well, you better say it fast.’

Piers then addressed Meghan’s heartbreaking revelation that she considered taking her own life due to the abuse she received after joining the Royal family.

‘Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me weather report. The fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our Royal family I think is contemptible,’ he said.

Susanna Reid fired back and stated: ‘Well that’s a pathetic reaction to someone who has expressed those thoughts.’

Royal expert Chris Ship also defended Meghan after Piers’ comment and said: ‘Someone saying they had suicidal thoughts, I don’t think you can say that she was lying at that point. She had these thoughts, petty serious ones and took them to HR.

‘We talked last week about Buckingham Palace’s HR department, what did they do about the victims when this bullying complaint about Meghan was put in.’

Piers replied: ‘On that point Chris, her camp immediately said they can’t be believed. Those victims can’t be believed. Now we’re supposed to believe everything Meghan Markle has said about her own terrible ordeal of bullying and racism and the rest of it. You can’t have it both ways.

‘You’re not allowed to believe the victims of her own bullying, but we have to believe everything she says.’

During Monday’s GMB, Piers continued to defend the Royal family and called for Harry and Meghan to name the people they refused to mention in the interview.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
