YouTube star Grace Victory is awake after being placed in an induced coma in her fight against Covid-19.

The new mum had been admitted to intensive care on Christmas Day after giving birth to her first child the day before, and her family revealed doctors had to deliver her baby boy early because Grace was ‘too unwell to carry on with the pregnancy’.

The YouTuber returned to social media on Monday afternoon and wrote: ‘I’m awake. Baby boy is thriving at home x’.

The amazing news comes after her family updated fans on the influencer’s health at the end of 2020 and revealed promising news on her recovery.

‘Grace is currently stable and responding well to treatment,’ it read. ‘We as a family are truly overwhelmed by the amount of Love and well wishes sent to our Grace and we want to thank each and everyone of you for casting a light of hope our way.

‘Please still keep Grace in your thoughts and prayers. Let’s get her home. Love family & bubba x. (sic)’

The statement came five days after Grace’s family explained that her health had declined due to coronavirus.

‘As you guys know, Grace gave birth on Christmas Eve to a beautiful baby boy, who is currently doing so well, he’s incredible,’ they announced in a previous post. ‘We love him so much.

‘Grace developed Covid-19 two weeks ago and although her symptoms were mild at first, they worsened as the days went on. Which meant they had to deliver the baby as soon as possible, as she was just too unwell to carry on with the pregnancy.’

They continued: ‘Grace was admitted into intensive care on Christmas Day due to issues with her breathing & therefore they had to make the decision of placing her into an induced coma, to give her body the rest it needs, in order to recover.’

Grace had spent almost two weeks in hospital last month after falling unwell during her pregnancy.

She later explained in a YouTube video that she was ‘severely dehydrated’ and released from hospital after recovering.

‘I was on the verge of having anaemia and I was basically completely and utterly burnt out,’ she told viewers in the video.

Announcing the exciting news that she’d given birth, Grace wrote in a social media post: ‘We’re parents. It’s been a wild week but this morning baby boy arrived and is our little Christmas miracle.

‘We are all doing so well and I am f*g in love… IM A MUVAAAAAAAAAAAA [sic].’
