Davina McCall recalls her daughter being ‘in tears’ after she shared an on screen smooch with David Tennant 12 years ago.

When she hosted Comic Relief in 2009 she joked right at the end of the show that she would donate £50 to charity if she could kiss the Doctor Who star

The actor quipped that he would have ‘done it for a fiver’ before going in for a kiss with the audience cheering them on.

The pair really went for it too as they both ended up on the floor with David sitting on top of her.

As they both recovered and walked away, the presenter playfully smacked the Scottish star’s bum prompting him to say ‘That’s another 50 quid’, with Davina handing him the cash before they went off stage.

Recalling the famous moment before this year’s charity event – which she is presenting alongside the likes of Sir Lenny Henry and Alesha Dixon – Davina said: ‘Hosting with Lenny is always a dream and the last time I hosted with David Tennant, I had such a great evening.

‘When I got home, I had to explain to my daughter, who was in tears, how I ended up snogging Doctor Who.’

For this year’s campaign celebs have been sporting Charlie Mackesy ‘kind’ T-shirts to show their support.

Jenna Coleman, Olivia Colman and Emily Atack are among the stars wearing the tee, available at TKMaxx.com, in order to raise vital funds for Comic Relief.

With people continuing to stay at home and socially distance this year, Sir Lenny confessed that 2021’s telethon will be ‘a bit different’ but still cheer everyone up.

‘Of course we want to raise as much money as possible for people who really need it in the UK and around the world,’ he said.

‘But we also want to make you smile and bring you some laughter over the coming weeks!’

Comic Relief 2021 will take place on March 19.
