Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to drop on HBO Max in just 10 days time, but fans were already able to watch the first hour of the film due to an accidental leak.

The director’s cut of Justice League seemed to play when users attempted to watch Tom & Jerry – a new live-action using CGI – on the US streaming platform, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

News of the leak started doing the rounds on Twitter, with one user from Charlotte revealing to the publication that they were able to watch 60-minutes from Snyder’s cut of the 2017 movie, starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot.

They explained that the footage then cut off and when they tried to restart the film, the selected movie Tom & Jerry played as it should have.

HBO released a statement addressing the leak and insisted it was rectified ‘within minutes’.

A spokesperson said: ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max and the error was addressed within minute.

NME reports that some Twitter users had shared screenshots of the Justice League footage online, before being sent notices to take their posts down from the social media platform on behalf of Warner Bros.

Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg in the DC Comics film, urged Justice League fans to help the new release ‘beat the leak’.

Throwing his support behind Snyder’s cut, Fisher tweeted: ‘You know what beats a leak? A flood of views on @hbomax!

‘On March 18th we’re watching #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague on repeat ALL DAY LONG!!! Who’s streaming with me???’

Snyder had been on board to direct Justice League and was working on the project until 2017 and left as the film hit its post-production stages.

He chose to step away from the movie following the death of his daughter in May that year and Joss Whedon was brought in to fill his shoes.

Following fans calling for Snyder to release his cut of the movie, the filmmaker announced he will be dropping the four-hour long footage and revealed he isn’t getting paid to do so.

While he was paid for his earlier work on the movie, Snyder addressed his decision not to cash in this time round and told Vanity Fair: ‘I’m not getting paid.

‘I didn’t want to be beholden to anyone, and it allowed me to keep my negotiating powers with these people pretty strong.’

The latest Justice League cut reportedly cost around $70million (£50m) to rework and will be split into singular episodes, before being put together to create one extra-long episode so it can be shown in one full version.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League heads to HBO Max on March 18. It will be available to rent via VOD in the UK.
