Top Gear stars Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris have spoken about the ‘riskiest’ stunt they’ve ever attempted on the show, admitting they definitely ‘wouldn’t do it again’.

The trio are back in action for the 30th series which begins on Sunday, and this time they’re really out of their comfort zones.

During terrifying scenes, the boys are pulled along a runway with titanium plates strapped to their feet in the most dangerous stunt attempted during their time on the show.

The trailer released for the new episode teases the episode, with sparks sent flying from the plates as the boys gather speed behind a moving car.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about their hairiest moments during filming, Paddy said: ‘We did something this series. We were dragged up a runway where we were holding on to the back of our cars on these titanium plates on the bottom of our feet.

‘I think all three of us were in agreement, it was probably one of the most risky things we’ve ever done,’ he added.

Freddie added: ‘I think it is the riskiest.’

‘Even watching it, you know, I don’t think you get a sense of how risky it was. But we did it and it’s done. No, we would never do it again. But we hope the viewers enjoy that,’ Paddy said.

Chris also spoke about the pressure to take part in the jaw-dropping stunts on Top Gear, stating that both Freddie and Paddy would never forgive him if he didn’t go through with them.

‘There have been moments in the last few years when I’ve just gone “don’t fancy that” and you take one look at it again, it’s a glint in [Freddie’s] eye and you think “I’d rather die”.’

Freddie added: ‘To do these things, I take great pleasure in knowing that these two are disliking it more than me. I don’t particularly like it, but I know they’re really suffering so I really enjoy it.’

Freddie and Paddy are no strangers to dangerous set-pieces on Top Gear, having attempted the wall of death and a car bungee jump on previous series.

They spoke to Metro.co.uk last year and revealed that they keep their dangerous stunts a secret from their wives, who only find out about them as the episodes air.

Last summer, Paddy crashed a Lamborghini while filming for Top Gear and was left ‘shaken’ by the incident.

The new series of Top Gear will look different than ever before, having been filmed without a studio audience for the first time.

Top Gear was forced to vacate its home at the Dunsfold race track for the first time since being rebooted in 2002 to record links for its studio elements.

The new episodes will also see the hosts pay tribute to some of the iconic Bond movie cars and take an emotional drive down memory lane through the Lake District in their dads’ cars.

Top Gear returns on Sunday at 8pm on BBC One.
