Piers Morgan quit Good Morning Britain in sensational scenes yesterday after more than 41,000 people complained about his conduct surrounding Meghan Markle – but who will replace him?

The host left the show after Ofcom launched an investigation following his comments about ‘not believing Meghan’ when she told Oprah Winfrey she had previously felt suicidal.

Viewers are now speculating who could be set to take over, and bookmaker Star Sports has made Ben Shephard the 3/1 favourite to replace him as main presenter on the show.

Ben has appeared on Good Morning Britain since 2014 and currently hosts the programme part-time.

Adil Ray, who has often stood in for Piers in the past on the programme, is 6/1 to take the position. Ranvir Singh, who stepped in on Wednesday morning, is 8/1.

Alex Beresford is also currently 8/1 to take over presenting duties from Piers, after clashing with him on the show yesterday – leading to Piers walking out of the studio.

Elsewhere, Dermot Murnaghan is 10/1, Kate Garraway is 16/1, Jeremy Vine is 16/1, Richard Madeley is 16/1 and Rylan Clark-Neal is 16/1.

In a separate market, Star Sports are offering 6/4 for Piers to sign a contract with GB News in 2021, as well as being 4/1 to return to Good Morning Britain as the permanent host this year and 25/1 to appear on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

ITV announced the news of Piers’ departure last night with a statement that read: ‘Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

‘ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.’ Ahead of the announcement, Piers tweeted a Gif of a ticking clock, but is yet to comment further.

Piers had been under fire since Monday’s episode where he condemned Meghan’s comments in her and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah.

Since leaving the show, the presenter admitted that he still ‘doesn’t believe’ anything Meghan said in the interview. He has also promised he’ll be back, after being ‘cancelled’ by the ‘woke crowd’.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
