WOW! American Promoter Teases Claressa Shields vs Katie Taylor Mega-Fight

Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor can unleash one of the biggest fights ever in the history of women’s boxing, setting a new stage for the young fighters. Boasting themselves as the best female pugilists of all time, Shields and Taylor have achieved impeccable accolades in their respective careers.

However, they have never crossed paths, and it’s time to see them collide inside the squared circle. Although ‘T-Rex’ Shields will compete in MMA in some time, we can still expect her to face Katie Taylor in the future.

American promoter Dmitry Salita wants to materialize the clash, seemingly resting his support on Shields’ corner. He connected with Sky Sports to shed light on the possible matchup and sent several fans into a frenzy.

“From the beginning of her career, Claressa told me to make the biggest and best fights. A fight with Katie Taylor is definitely a possibility. Katie is a very good fighter for whom I have a lot of respect for inside and outside the ring. The ball is in her court if she wants to do it. It would be another mega event for women’s boxing,” said Salita.

Meanwhile, he hailed Claressa Shields as an enigma for women’s boxing and touted the possible fight to be with Taylor- a step ahead to revolutionize the sport. So, it’s safe to believe that we can see both the women clash in-ring if they come under similar terms and negotiations.

Salita added, “Claressa Shields is a trailblazer, a pioneer as an athlete and a social influencer who uses her gift to advance justice and equality for women around the world a la Billie Jean King, Shirley Chisholm and other incredible superwomen leaders throughout history,”

If staged, Taylor vs Shields has the potential to be a massive blockbuster. While Shields has successfully competed in an all women’s card, Salita envisions to stage another one with a headliner between her and ‘The Bray Bomber’.

In an interview, Shields had expressed her desire in facing Katie Taylor. Although she acknowledged Taylor’s achievement, she still billed herself to be superior inside the ring.

Speaking on it, ‘T-Rex’ said “I think Katie is like a blessing and a curse for her too, how good she is, but she has one problem. She has a problem with pressure fighters. All her team has to do is acknowledge that, and if she fixes that, then me and her can be in competition about who is pound-for-pound, but right now I’m pound-for-pound best and Katie Taylor is second.”

That said, the fight talks have just begun, and it will take a lot more time to get materialized. Meanwhile, Taylor and Shields have their own plans. So, the matchup might have to go through several tussles to happen.
