Ant and Dec ‘reviving SM:TV Live’s Chums for Cat Deeley reunion’ on Saturday Night Takeaway
Ant and Dec’s upcoming SM:TV Live reunion with Cat Deeley on Saturday Night Takeaway will reportedly include a one-off revival of their beloved sitcom, Chums.
While we wait for the actual Friends reunion to happen, 90s kids everywhere will be hyped to learn that the parody is apparently getting a reboot as well.
Chums was a fan-favourite segment on SM:TV, with Ant, Dec and Cat bringing in their celebrity pals as special guests for antics inside their ‘shared flat’.
The finale episode, aired on Ant and Dec’s final episode, managed to land Mariah Carey as Cat’s bridesmaid – and it earned more viewers than actual Friends, which was airing on Channel 4 at the same time.
So what’s to come of the trio, and Dec and Cat’s will they/won’t they romance? According to reports, we’re about to find out!
‘This is the reunion SM:TV fans have been calling for. It’s going to be epic,’ a source told The Sun.
Cat has been confirmed to be reuniting with Ant and Dec on March 20 – and will find herself a victim of one of their classic pranks as she tries to read a bedtime story.
A special retrospective of SM:TV Live aired on Boxing Day last year, with the trio reminiscing about their time together from 1998 to 2001.
In honour of the show, it aired on Saturday at 9.25 – the same time the series normally aired.
SM:TV’s segments and games – including Wonky Donkey, Challenge Ant and the Poke Raps – became must-watch for kids and young teens on Saturday morning.
The series set Ant and Dec on course for their unmatched career as a presenting duo, with the pair eventually leaving to host Pop Idol.
Cat has gone on for a successful career as a host in the US.
Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
