Carlos Takam Open to Fighting Staunch Heavyweights From Britain

The renowned French pugilist, Carlos Takam, is eager for a return. Takam last fought in July 2020 and hasn’t quite staged a fight since then. But his promoter, Joe DeGuardia, has assured the fans of his comeback. He even asserted that Takam is keen on facing a stout heavyweight from Britain on his return.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “We are working on various possibilities for Carlos.

“To answer your question, yes, we would certainly entertain fighting any of Britain’s top heavyweights.

“Carlos wants the best fighters out there.”

In December 2020, Takam was in talks to compete with the WBC heavyweight king Tyson Fury. But the fight fell through due to some uncertainties.

Speaking on the same, DeGuardia said, “I think we were at I would say 98 percent done (in negotiations) and then it just changed in one day.”

DeGuardia even added that Takam immersed himself in rigorous workouts for the Tyson Fury fight. But the Brit vanquished his fight plans to prepare for the upcoming undisputed title fight with Anthony Joshua.

That said, this left Takam in a not-so-good position. If he had competed with the ‘Gypsy King’ he might have opened doors for other cosmic opponents.

But leaving all that behind, the 40-year-old now wants to take on resilient opponents, predominantly from Britain.

Takam has stayed pro-active in the past few years, adding constant wins to his resume. He holds a staggering track record of 39 wins and 5 losses.

And if he’s keen on challenging a contender from Britain, then Dillian Whyte might just be an ideal opponent for him.

If Takam keeps his options, there are several other opponents which he might get his hands on. It’ll be interesting to see what Takam and his promotion finalize on.

His fans are just elevated to see him back in action.
