Rosamund Pike has ‘deeply psychological’ need to bury her awards in her back garden and we have so many questions

Rosamund Pike has revealed she buries her acting awards in her back garden because she can’t bear to have them in her house and we’re so intrigued.

The Gone Girl actress, who won her first Golden Globe this year for her role in Netflix’s I Care A Lot, refuses to have her awards take pride of place, instead banishing them outside.

Basically, it’s down to Rosamund wanting to avoid any awkwardness at all costs, and for that, she’s a woman after our own hearts – but it doesn’t make it any less weird.

‘That is a true thing!’ she explained on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. ‘Look, I’ve crossed my arms! It’s probably some deeply psychological [thing] – if you’ve got any psychiatrists or therapists in your audience, maybe they’ll say it’s probably some deep lying imposter syndrome

‘I find it an uneasy thing to display any award in your home. How do people interact with them when they come home? Do they say “Oh wow, look! Those are your awards.” I think it’s awkward.

‘So I buried them in the garden, with a little bit showing up so you could have an enticing glimpse of a hand – I can’t really think what they have now! The crown, or the globe maybe.

‘I think it’s amusing because in the future, when I’m dead and gone or when somebody else buys the house, they’ll be landscaping and they’ll hit metal and think they’ve found buried treasure and they’ll have in fact found a host of awards.

‘They’re probably centuries ahead and they won’t even have them anymore.’

There’s a lot to unpack there, but at least she’s found a solution?

Rosamund, 42, won her Golden Globe for playing Marla Grayson, a professional guardian who cons the elderly in the Netflix film I Care A Lot.

Marla’s luck starts to run out when she targets Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Weist), a woman who has unforgiving connections.

She was previously nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Gone Girl, but lost to Julianne Moore for her performance in Still Alice.

The actress, who previously called out films including Johnny English for ‘augmenting’ her breasts and changing aspects of her appearance, is best known for appearing in films like Gone Girl, Die Another Day, and Jack Reacher.
