Gogglebox stars shocked as they watch Piers Morgan storm off GMB: ‘Shut the door behind him’
The stars of Gogglebox were left gasping as they watched the sensational moment Piers Morgan stormed off Good Morning Britain during a row with fellow presenter Alex Beresford before he quit the ITV talk show.
On Monday evening, ITV aired Oprah Winfrey’s illuminating interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, during which the couple opened up about their decision to step down as senior working members of the royal family.
That day, then-GMB presenter Piers expressed his disbelief on-air about claims Meghan made about her mental health struggles, prompting widespread backlash.
On Tuesday, weather presenter Alex joined Piers and Susanna Reid on the GMB panel, where he said to Piers about Meghan: ‘She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.’
At this statement, Piers stomped out of the room – and the stars of Gogglebox couldn’t quite handle the drama of the moment as they watched it back in the latest episode of the Channel 4 show.
‘Who knew you could let fireworks off at 6am in the morning?’ Pete Sandiford joked while watching the scene unfold.
Tom Malone Sr wasn’t having it, stating: ‘Shut the door behind him.’
Pete’s sister Sophie Sandiford also quipped that Piers ‘had his a**e handed to him on national telly by the weatherman.’
Gogglebox fans found the stars’ reaction to Piers GMB blow-up highly entertaining, with one person tweeting: ‘“He has just had his a**e handed to him by the weatherman” Soph and Pete nail it.’
‘“Didn’t know you could let fireworks off at half 6 in a mornin” @Petesandiford haha seriously these one liners are top notch,’ someone else wrote.
Earlier on, the participants of Gogglebox reacted to several of the revelations Meghan and Harry made in their interview with Oprah.
In reaction to Meghan opening up about her mental health struggles, Izzi Warner said: ‘Nobody deserves to feel like that.’
