Piers Morgan demands apology from The Talk ‘bullies’ over ‘disgraceful slurs’ made against him
Piers Morgan has demanded an apology from daytime show The Talk for what he claims were ‘disgraceful slurs’ made against him.
The presenter made global headlines this week when he quit ITV’s Good Morning Britain after saying he did not believe the Duchess of Sussex’s claim she wasn’t supported by the palace when she was having suicidal ideation in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
This led to him becoming a topic of conversation on the CBS show, which saw Sharon Osbourne crying and shouting profanities at her fellow co-hosts while defending Piers.
Sharon later apologized for her actions, while the former newspaper editor took to Twitter to share his disagreement with her decision and instead called for an apology to be made to him.
Sharing her apology on Twitter, Piers stated: ‘Sharon’s been shamed & bullied into apologising for defending me against colleagues accusing me of racism because I don’t believe Meghan Markle’s bulls**t. This is where we’ve reached. I demand an apology from those @TheTalkCBS bullies for their disgraceful slurs against ME.’
Sharon, 68, had defended Piers earlier this week, saying: ‘I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist so that makes me a racist.’
The star became increasingly emotional as she continued: ‘I will ask you again Sheryl, I’ve been asking you during the break and I’m asking you again, and don’t try and cry ‘cause if anyone should be crying it should be me. Educate me. Tell me when you have heard him say racist things.’
Sheryl Underwood calmly explained: ‘It is not the exact words of racism, it’s the implication and the reaction to it.
‘To not want to address that because she is a Black woman, and to try to dismiss it or to make it seem less than what it is that’s what makes it racist. But right now, I’m talking to a woman I believe is my friend and I don’t want anybody here to watch this and think we are attacking you for being racist.’
The clip from the show went viral, with Sharon’s behaviour widely critizised.
On Friday morning, she issued a long apology saying after that, ‘some reflection’, she is ‘truly sorry’.
She wrote: ‘I have always been embraced with so much love and support from the black community and I have deep respect and love for the black community. To anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry.

‘I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive and allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over. There are very few things that hurt my heart more than racism so to feel associated with that spun me fast!’
‘I am not perfect, I am still learning like the rest of us and will continue to learn, listen and do better,’ she promised.
The star added: ‘Please hear me when I say I do not condone racism, misogyny or bullying.
‘I should have been more specific about that in my tweet. I will always support freedom of speech, but now I see how I unintentionally didn’t make that clear distinction.’
