Rose McGowan has wished rapist Harvey Weinstein a happy first anniversary in prison.

The former producer was jailed last March for 23 years after being found guilty of criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree.

Actress McGowan, one of Weinstein’s accusers, has marked the date by writing on Twitter: ‘Dear Evil Weinstein, Happy 1st year in prison anniversary scumbag! PS You did horrible things to me for years. You all underestimated me.’

She shared a link to a segment on 60 Minutes Australia, titled ‘Rose McGowan vs. Black Cube: Taking down Harvey Weinstein’s army of spies’.

The actress is one of Weinstein’s most outspoken accusers, claiming the former movie mogul sexually assaulted her in the 90s.

She is also a member of The Silence Breakers, a group of more than 20 women who have united over their accusations towards Weinstein.

In their statement after the sentencing, the group said: ‘Harvey Weinstein‘s legacy will always be that he’s a convicted rapist.

‘He is going to jail — but no amount of jail time will repair the lives he ruined, the careers he destroyed, or the damage he has caused.’

Last February, Weinstein was found guilty of two counts – criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree.

The jury found Weinstein not guilty on the most serious charge, predatory sexual assault, which could have resulted in a life sentence for the former Hollywood producer.

He had pleaded not guilty to all charges.

In the months since his sentencing, he has been stripped of his CBE, and many actresses have spoken out against him.

Most recently, Salma Hayek has opened up about how she’s been able to move on, after accusing Weinstein of sexual harassment in 2017.

Following his sentencing last year, Hayek has said she has now finally ‘detached’ herself from the past, after being unable to heal from her experience with Weinstein, as she admitted: ‘It was very painful for a long time.’

Speaking to Insider, Hayek recalled repressing her feelings and her shock when she found out so many other women had experienced what she had with the producer.

‘The amazing things is that I thought I had healed and then everything came out again and I realised I didn’t heal. I repressed and I coped, I adjusted, I went on,’ she said.

‘So there was a layer of healing because it didn’t stop me from growing. But it was very painful for a long time. I didn’t know there were so many other women affected and that it went so deep. It was very shocking.’
