Ryan Reynolds has given Alison Hammond’s son a talking to, ordering him to ‘step up’ his game for Mother’s Day.

The This Morning star and, let’s be honest, national treasure, interviewed Deadpool actor Ryan and clearly won him over.

With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, he was distressed to learn that 16-year-old Aiden usually makes her a card.

‘Aiden, let’s step it up this year,’ he urged. ‘If you’re watching this, I want you to step it up for your mum.

‘She’s awesome, she’s funny, she’s charming, she’s successful, she’s done all of this not just for her, but also for you young man!’

The 44-year-old, who’s married to actress Blake Lively, added: ‘So take care of your mum this year – I think we can do a little bit better than a card. Even if you steal some flowers out of a neighbour’s garden, just do it!’

Chatting to his co-star back in the studio, Dermot O’Leary joked: ‘The pressure on that poor boy now!’ before Alison insisted she’ll be calling up Ryan if things don’t go to plan.

We wouldn’t want to be Aiden right now!

Alison clearly dotes on her son, often mentioning him on the show, and recently opening up about their relationship.

She said: ‘I was so nervous about becoming a mum in the beginning, and I look back and think: “What was I nervous about?”

‘He has enriched my life in ways I never even imagined. He’s brought so much joy, I can’t imagine life without him.’

The presenter added that she regrets not having more kids around the time she had Aiden.

But Alison is now open to the idea of adoption.

She told HELLO! magazine: ‘My one wish would be that I’d had more children. I wish I’d had another three back then.

‘I would totally consider adoption in the future. I’ve got so much more love to give – I don’t think I’m done with one child, I’m just not.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
