Gwyneth Paltrow reveals she is open to returning to Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘for small part’
Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she is open to returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but on one condition.
The actress, 48, was last seen on-screen in the world of Marvel in the 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame as Pepper Potts, but has since admitted she would be open to making a reappearance as the iconic character for a much smaller role than before.
Appearing on People TV, she told host Kay Adams she would return ‘if it was a small part that I could do in like a day or two.’
Gwyneth had previously stated that she would be done with Marvel following the release of Endgame.
She told Variety back in early 2019: ‘I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point, I feel very lucky that I did it [Iron Man], because I actually got talked into it.
‘I was friends with [Iron Man filmmaker] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.’
Fans had seen Pepper gain some form of powers at the end if Iron Man 3, after being infected with the Extremis virus, and she displayed her new abilities when she swooped in to save Stark.
It comes after the Goop founder recently admitted she gained 14 pounds during the pandemic – and it’s all thanks to ‘wine, biscuits, crackers and cheese’.
Gwyneth revealed she found it difficult to keep to a healthy lifestyle in lockdown, and it’s definitely something we can all relate to.
Speaking at her In Goop Health – The At-Home Summit virtual event via E! News, she said: ‘I was absolutely no holds barred. I gained 14 pounds and my gut was a mess.
‘But I just didn’t want to do anything about it, really. I felt like my wine and my pasta and biscuits and crackers and cheese were getting me through.’
The star previously revealed she had battled coronavirus ‘early on’ in the pandemic and has still been suffering from some long-term effects.
Writing about her symptoms in a post on the Goop website, she explained: ‘I had Covid-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.’
Gwyneth also revealed how she had tests which showed ‘really high levels of inflammation’ in her body, and she has since been told she is facing a longer recovery time.
She added: ‘So I turned to one of the smartest experts I know in this space, the functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole.
‘After he saw all my labs, he explained that this was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual.’
