‘I’m One of the Best Strikers in UFC’- Darren Till
UFC middleweight contender, Darren Till, spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani ahead of his April 10 match-up against Marvin Vettori. ‘The Gorilla’ is on the cusp of a title shot and will be keen to put a stamp on his performance. The current crop of middleweight contenders is currently booked in a mini tournament-style bracket while Israel Adesanya heals up.
Chiefly, ‘The Last Stylebender’ fought at UFC 259 against Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight strap. Adesanya came up short against the Polish champion and failed to actualize his goal of becoming a double champion. He’s now set to drop back down to middleweight and continue to ward off contenders vying for his throne.

Darren Till speaks out on striking with ‘The Last Stylebender’
Israel Adesanya has been on record saying that Darren Till is a middleweight contender that he’s looking forward to facing. Both men are strikers through and through, and they are keen to test each other’s skill set against the other. Darren Till is certainly excited to test himself, but he must first get through ‘The Italian Dream’ in April.
“Right now, I’m just focused on myself. I’m doing me own thing. This is the thing, one of these fights with me and Izzy, I think it’s magician vs magician, who’s got the kryptonite to beat the other guy’s striking. I’ve said it for the longest time, I’m one of the best strikers in the UFC and I think Izzy is definitely there. The way he’s been fighting, he’s ahead of me right now, but I just feel like I got them specifics to beat him.”
‘The Gorilla’ Till: Looking for a Dance partner
Till doubled down on the fact that getting called out by the undisputed champion was certainly an honor. He believes his striking prowess has piqued the interest of Adesanya and perhaps other contenders as well.
“I’m sure he’s up for the challenge, and he thinks he’s got the specifics to beat me. I think it’s going to be a good fight when it happens. It’s good to be getting called out by the champion…I must be doing something right.”
Israel Adesanya has racked up some spectacular wins at middleweight, and he’ll be keen to continue his reign. Putting on a show against another cerebral striker like Darren Till will go a long way in solidifying his reign. However, Till will need to keep winning and putting up performances worthy of being able to skip over other contenders like Robert Whittaker.
