The Voice UK fans have expressed their sadness over the news that singer Wura, a member of Sir Tom Jones’ team, has left the competition due to medical reasons.

The latest episode of The Voice UK on ITV saw contestants take part in the second week of the semi-finals, with the coaches tasked with selecting those who they believe deserve to be put up for the public vote.

Wura originally made it through the Blind Auditions singing Strange by Celeste, joining Sir Tom before going up against Jake O’Neill in the battle round.

While Wura won the battle, last week she announced on Twitter that she had to drop out of the running ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’.

With Jake taking her place in the semi-finals, several The Voice UK viewers wished Wura a speedy recovery amid her absence.

‘Noooo I loved Wura. But I hope she is okay and well,’ one person tweeted.

‘Omg Wura has left the competition,’ another said, adding: ‘Love her voice.’

Someone else commented that Wura had ‘genuinely one of the most unique voices I’ve ever heard’, expressing their hope that she’s able to return at some point in future.

‘Gutted for Wura, hope she returns next year. She was one of my favourites from this year,’ one fan tweeted.

When Wura announced her exit from The Voice UK, she said she was ‘grateful’ for the experience she had on the show.

‘Due to unforeseen circumstances I am no longer a part of the Voice UK 2021!’ she tweeted.

‘I am so grateful to God for the journey so far and I completely trust His process with me.

‘I want to thank @thevoiceuk team for going above and beyond to make sure i could even be a part of the show.’

Speaking about Wura’s exit, Sir Tom said: ‘It’s a shame because she had I think the most unique voice that I’ve had on this show

The singers who are chosen by the coaches to proceed through the semi-final will be up for a public vote, who will determine which singers make it to the final.

Sir Tom was joined by Spice Girl Mel C as his guest mentor during the semi-final stage of the competition.

The Voice UK returns next Saturday evening on ITV and is available to watch on ITV Player.
