Dancing On Ice 2021: Faye Brookes left in tears as former skating partner Hamish Gaman wishes her luck in final
Dancing On Ice star Faye Brookes was seen breaking down in tears as she received a sweet message from her former skating partner Hamish Gaman in Sunday night’s final.
The Coronation Street star made it to the final three of the competition and took to the ice to battle it out against radio presenter Sonny Jay and former sprinter Colin Jackson in the show finale.
She was dancing with Matt Evers, following the exit of her original skating partner Hamish, who was forced to quit the competition early due to a hand injury.
Hamish, however, did stop by to wish Faye luck in the final and the soap star was brought to tears, as she was inundated with messages from home.
Appearing on screen as Faye took a look back at her Dancing On Ice journey, Hamish said: ‘I’m so proud of you, good luck and have fun on the night.’
Faye also received messages from her mum, dad, brother and co-star Samia Longchambon and was so moved, as she told Matt: ‘This is like the best thing ever.’
She was then seen taking to the ice to perform a Black Swan inspired routine – the same routine she had previously performed with Hamish on the ice.
Her elegant performance won a perfect score of 40, as the judging panel gave 10s across the board.
Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Faye said that while it was a ‘completely different experience’ dancing the routine with Matt, it was ‘still amazing’.
Judge Ashley Banjo told her: ‘There was a moment that I fully got goosebumps.’
Last month, it was confirmed that Hamish would be pulling out of Dancing On Ice after sustaining a finger injury by pulling up a sock.
While Hamish had initially performed with the injury, after adjustments were made to Faye’s routine, it was later ruled for him to leave the competition, so he could take ‘some time out to allow his injury to fully heal’.
Faye said she was ‘truly heartbroken’ that Hamish couldn’t stay on and paid tribute to her partner at the time on Instagram.
She wrote: ‘This guy has been there for me from the very beginning. Taught me everything I know and I hope I did you proud brother… It has been an honour.’
