MasterChef’s John Torode has revealed he turned down an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing

The chef and TV host isn’t planning on following in his co-star Gregg Wallace’s dancing shoes after believing that he wouldn’t cope well with the intense training.

Speaking to Daily Star Sunday, he said: ‘They asked me – I’d love to dance. But I’m not doing it.

‘I’m not going to put myself under that sort of pressure. It’s not something I want to do… definitely not!’

He added that he was fine continuing with MasterChef and rejects any idea he’ll be taking part himself anytime soon, insisting ‘he was fine where he is’.

John’s MasterChef sidekick Gregg had previously given Strictly a go, but made no secret that he ‘hated’ the experience and was happy when it was over.

Partnered with Aliona Vilani, he was the first eliminated in the 2014 series.

Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev went on to win the show that year.

On last year’s Strictly, Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse made double history as they took home the glitterball trophy.

Bill was the oldest star to ever take home the win, while Oti is the first professional dancer to win two consecutive years.

Oti has now been confirmed to join the judges panel of celebrity guessing game The Masked Dancer, replacing Rita Ora on the ITV line-up.

The launch date of the show is yet to be confirmed.
