Rapper Lady Leshurr revealed that she isn’t too clued up on The Great British Bake Off when she mixed up Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith while gearing up for a rap battle on The Celebrity Circle.
On tonight’s episode of the Channel 4 show in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, rapper Big Narstie – aka Lady Leshurr – went up against radio DJs Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom – who are pretending to be The Voice UK coach will.i.am – in a rap battle.
The Celebrity Circle contestants were tasked with coming up with a freestyle rap about Bake Off, as a picture of judges Paul and Prue and presenter Noel Fielding appeared on the TV screen in front of them.
Rickie commented that if it is the real Big Narstie behind the scenes, writing a verse about Bake Off would be ‘nothing to him’.
‘I’m going to find this hard,’ Lady Leshurr remarked, adding that her mind had ‘literally gone blank’ as she failed to recognise who any of the Bake Off stars were.
In an attempt to find some last-minute inspiration, Lady Leshurr rifled through Big Narstie’s autobiography, where he mentioned that he previously appeared on the celebrity version of the baking competition.
Picking out an extract from the book, Lady Leshurr read: ‘My shortbreads were better than everyone else’s. Even Prue Leith agreed.’
Not knowing who Paul or Prue are, this led Lady Leshurr to the mistaken conclusion that Paul must be Prue.
‘That means that Prue Leith is that guy ‘cause he looks like the boss,’ the Dancing On Ice star said.
Will Lady Leshurr’s lack of Bake Off knowledge be her downfall in the rap battle?
Big Narstie took part in the second series of Celebrity Bake Off in 2019, competing against Johnny Vegas, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Jess Phillips.
While the musician took part in the first two challenges, he dropped out before the third challenge due to becoming ill and was replaced by former Bake Off presenter Sandi Toksvig.
Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams – who were catfishing as Towie star Gemma Collins – became the latest stars to be blocked on this year’s series of The Celebrity Circle on Friday evening.
The Celebrity Circle for Stand Up To Cancer continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
