BTS Army makes #Scammys trend after K-Pop group misses out on Grammy award
There was widespread uproar from the BTS Army after the K-pop superstars failed to win the pop duo/group performance gong at the Grammys on Sunday.
After the boyband’s song Dynamite lost out to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s Rain On Me collab, the fandom took aim at the Recording Academy by making #scammys trend on Twitter.
One fan wrote: ‘I really try not to give the #scammys any of my attention but how tf did BTS not win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance?! Like… it doesn’t make any sense?? Dynamite was literally played everywhere and they performed it whenever they had the chance. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!’
Another echoed: ‘Like bro bts should have one they deserve a Grammy more than anyone.’
Sharing the official facts and figures of BTS topping their fellow nominees, a third wrote: ‘Literally how did bts not win a Grammy when they topped everyone in that category?? #scammys.’
Others tried to look at the positive, with one tweeting: ‘I’m proud of my boys not matter what! They worked so hard to get to where they are today! heart #scammys’
Another simply added: ‘Bts are more than the GRAMMYS. #scammys.’
BTS initially made history as the first K-Pop superstars to be nominated in the best pop duo/group performance at the 63rd Grammys.
Despite not winning, Jimin explained that he was still happy to have had a special Grammys experience.
Sharing a selfie on Twitter, he wrote: ‘Everyone has a hard time staying with us until this time! Thank you for supporting me Thanks to this, I have experienced such a ridiculous experience. Thank you very much and I am happy, ARMY! Love it.’
While they may not have a Grammy to add to the list of awards and achievements the band have racked up, they did perform on the night.
BTS were among the last performers of the evening, playing their smash hit track Dynamite for the fans at home.
The seven-piece group marked a major milestone as they became the first K-pop group to play at the Grammys last year.
They joined Lil Nas X on stage for a special performance of his hit Old Town Road, titled Seoul Town Road.
