Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston confirms series 6 is gearing up for explosive climax where big questions ‘will be answered’

Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston has revealed that series 6 will deliver some much-needed answers that have been building up over the years.

The Steve Arnott actor joined Lorraine Kelly on today’s show where he lifted the lid on what die-hard fans can expect when the beloved Jed Mercurio crime drama returns later this month.

‘Can you tell us anything? Anything at all?’ Lorraine probed.

‘Probably one thing I will say about it is there’s a lot of big questions that get answered this year,’ Martin replied.

‘I think I speak for all of us when I say series three was a lot of our favourites because there was the combination of series one, two and three coming together and with six, it feels like that again.

‘It feels like four, five, and six have been building to this big climax, so aye there’s a lot of things going on that people have been asking over the years.

‘I think they’re going to get answers.’

BBC has previously spilled the beans on the upcoming episodes, blessing us all with the first look at their new Detective Constable, Chloe Bishop – played by Shalom Brune-Franklin.

Not only are we getting a new addition to the AC-12 crew, but writers have been busy with an extended season, bumping it up to seven episodes instead of six.

Not much is known about the upcoming plot, but episodes will see Arnott, DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) come up against DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald), the senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case who finds herself in hot water with the gang.

While the storyline remains tightly under wraps, Martin has confirmed there will be no mention of coronavirus.

Speaking to The Times Saturday Review, he said: ‘I’m so glad that it isn’t part of the show. It’s consuming our lives at the moment, it’s on every f***ing news channel every day.

‘It will be nice that there’s an hour on a Sunday night for seven weeks where it’s not mentioned.’

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
