WATCH: Coach Patrick Mouratoglou Hails Serena Williams’ Serve As the Greatest of All Time
American tennis star Serena Williams is considered to be one of the greatest players in the game’s history. After all these years of playing on Tour, the former World No. 1 has adapted to the various changes in the game. However, her serve is still one of the most lethal weapons in her game.
Recently, Serena Williams received praise from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The Frenchman complimented the American player on her serve and considered it to be ‘the greatest serve of all time.’ Compared to the other players on the women’s Tour, Williams’ service is superior. The technique she possesses along with the ability to generate high speed is her strength.
Patrick Mouratoglou considers Serena Williams’ serve ‘the greatest of all time’
The 50-year-old coach posted a clip on his Instagram account with the caption, “The greatest serve of all time.” The clip featured Serena serving in slow motion, and one can follow the entire service action in detail. The clip was taken during the exhibition event ‘A Day at the Drive’ held in Adelaide, prior to the Australian Open this year.
The fastest serve by Williams was at the 2013 Australian Open when she clocked a speed of 207 km/hr. During the first three Grand Slam events of 2015, Williams’ second serve averaged five m/hr faster than Andy Murray’s.
Serena most recently competed at the Australian Open. After displaying top-quality tennis in the initial rounds, her exit came in the semifinal. Due to that, the wait for her twenty-fourth Grand Slam title still continues.
Recently, she was seen practicing with Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov and they later posted a clip of their training session. Serena will now shift her focus to the Miami Open. The 39-year-old is the most successful player of the tournament and has won it on eight occasions.
