WWE legend CM Punk looks to be growing out his hair and sporting some stubble as he shared a selfie on Twitter this week.

The former world champion – who was spotted returning to the ring with Stephen Amell earlier this year for filming on the actor’s wrestling drama Heels – showed off his new look in a sharp suit as he posed for a mirror selfie.

He shared the snap after his ex-WWE Backstage co-star Renee Paquette – known as Renee Young during her time with Vince McMahon’s company – ranted about Stephen A. Smith’s appointment as an NHL correspondent on ESPN.

The Canadian star tweeted: ‘But. But. Buuuuttttt you guys know that there’s plenty of knowledgeable, passionate, hockey broadcasters that already exist right? Instead of pretending that hockey is the red headed stepchild? May I nominate @Jackie_Redmond or @JSB_TV… s**t, I’d love to do it. @espn (sic)’

NHL and MLB Network’s Jackie Redmond agreed with the idea, and even threw Chicago Blackhawks fan Punk into the mix.

She suggested: ‘Renee covering hockey? FULLY endorse! And yes, getting a bump from the legendary @ReneePaquette is something I am absolutely & shamelessly retweeting right now.

‘PS. @CMPunk as a weekly Hawks “correspondent” = #Ratings (sic)’

Punk responded with the selfie, and added: ‘I’ve got the look down. Put me in coach!’

Meanwhile, the question of an in-ring return will never go away, and towards the end of last year Renee asked what Punk would need to make that a reality.

Appearing on her Oral Session podcast, he said: ‘Without wanting to insult anybody on any either side of the fence, any WWE talent or any AEW talent, it would take – above all – an interesting scenario.

‘A story that would be fun to tell. Also, just the stupidest amount of money. But they could just save themselves a whole lot of money if they just presented like a fun storyline.

‘What that is, I don’t know. I’m a pretty picky guy, especially at this point. I think there’s more interesting people on the AEW side of things for me to wrestle, but that’s just because I’ve never wrestled them before – Young Bucks, Kenny Omega.

‘Like, talking about your husband [Jon Moxley], I look at that and I go, “Well, I wrestled him already”.

‘So it’s just less interesting than something new. And on the WWE side of things, I don’t know that there’s anybody there currently that I haven’t wrestled that I would be interested in wrestling…’
