Line Of Duty star Shalom Brune-Franklin ‘didn’t tell anyone’ she was auditioning for series 6 to avoid being interrogated
AC-12 is set to welcome a new face in series six of Line Of Duty, with Shalom Brune-Franklin joining the cast as DC Chloe Bishop.
Fans will recognise actress Shalom, 26, from series three of BBC’s Our Girl, where she starred alongside Michelle Keegan, and Netflix drama Cursed.
Now, Shalom is joining our Line Of Duty favourites Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar on screen and while she might be thrilled by being a part of the cast, she admits that she kept her audition for the hit show a secret.
Speaking to Radio Times about bagging her new role, Shalom revealed that she purposely chose not to tell anyone about her Line Of Duty audition because she didn’t want to be interrogated by her family and friends.
‘Everyone waiting to audition was buzzing. When I found out DC Bishop was a new member of AC-12, my excitement went through the roof,’ she told the publication.
Shalom confessed: ‘I didn’t tell anyone I was up for the part, as my friends and family would have started interrogating me.’
Naturally, when her nearest and dearest did find out they were keen to get to the bottom of whether DC Bishop could actually be H – the corrupt senior ranking officer whose identity still hasn’t been uncovered.
She said: ‘They kept asking if I was H… I like to wind people up, sometimes I text friends in the middle of the night and say, “Does it annoy you that I know who H is?”‘
‘Who knows if I do or not,’ Shalom teased.
Also joining the cast of Line Of Duty for season six is Trainspotting star Kelly MacDonald, who will play DCI Joanne Davidson.
DCI Davidson is a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case and her suspicious conduct puts her on the radar of Anti-Corruption.
Filming for season six was hit by delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and while fans have finally been given a release date for later this month, show creator Jed Mercurio has revealed season six is still in the process of being edited.
‘The fact is that we’re still in post production on the series. We’ve only delivered the first few episodes to the BBC,’ he revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live.
‘We’ve still got plenty of time, we will get them all finished by the time they need to go out. Although we did actually shoot a bit of extra stuff a week or two ago, just to help with the end.’
Line Of Duty returns to BBC on March 21.
