Paris Hilton has revealed the ‘awkward’ truth behind the famous ‘Holy Trinity’ photo that pretty much defined pop culture in the mid-Noughties.

In 2006, the socialite was seen grinning alongside Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan in a car following a night out on the town.

However, the 40-year-old has now confessed on her podcast This Is Paris that she was actually feuding and ‘had some drama’ with Mean Girls star Lindsay at the time.

Explaining the back story, Paris said: ‘She did some things to really hurt me and betrayed my trust, and caused a lot of drama. So we weren’t friends anymore, and it was kind of like this on and off friendship.’

Speaking of the night the iconic photo was captured, the Simple Life star claimed: ‘That was a night that Britney and I went out, and we were at the Beverly Hills Hotel, at our friend’s party, and we decided to leave to go home.’

Paris added that while they were getting into the car, one paparazzi asked her: ‘Is it true you hit Lindsay?’

‘At that moment, all of a sudden, I saw Lindsay walking towards us, and I said, “Why don’t you just ask her?” And Lindsay said, “No, of course not”.

‘Something like, “No, Paris would never hit me. I’ve known her since I’m 15.” It was basically just, not admitting what she did. It was quite awkward to be asked that question, and then it was just weird how the whole thing happened.’

The hotel heiress said that before she knew it, Lindsay had climbed into her car.

‘We weren’t getting along, so I was polite. It was really hard just to even get out of there because I couldn’t see just with all the cameras,’ she continued.

Looking back on their tumultuous friendship with the former child star, Paris said: ‘When I think about it now, we were just so young, immature.

‘It was like high school drama, especially in the L.A. scene, and to live it out in public with the media constantly trying to stir things up and make things worse than they were,’ she said.

The pair’s friendship failed to see better times in coming years – with Hilton blasting Lohan as a ‘pathological liar’ in 2018.
