Sarah Harding has shared details about the ‘nerve wracking’ secret reunion between the five members of Girls Aloud after she told them she was battling breast cancer.

In an extract from her book Hear Me Out, published in Glamour, the singer revealed she met with Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh for the first time in eight years.

Sarah, 39, recalled feeling uncomfortable with how she looked at the time as she was having treatment and was conscious of how she looked and had ‘reservations’ about the get-together.

‘The steroids I’d been taking made me look bloated, and I’d lost my eyelashes due to the chemo,’ she wrote.

However she soon ‘loosened up’ as they enjoyed a meal at Soho Farmhouse and watched their 2006 documentary series Girls Aloud: Off The Record which ‘provoked lots of laughing and even more cringing’.

Sarah wrote: ‘We were all so different then; there was a sort of sweet naivety about us.

‘I remember Cheryl in particular almost watching her old self through fingers over her eyes, mortified at some of her comments and antics.

‘There was a difference in how the girls were then to the sophisticated women they’d since become.’

The pop star, who confirmed she had been diagnosed with advancer cancer last year, detailed in her book that she probably won’t get another Christmas.

Sarah revealed she does not want an exact prognosis and is focusing on being comfortable and as pain-free as possible.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner kept her diagnosis and her treatment under wraps from the public, but in August, told fans via social media that she was fighting cancer.

Sarah said on Instagram: ‘I’m currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy sessions and I am fighting as hard as I possibly can.’

‘I understand this might be shocking to read on social media and that really isn’t my intention. But last week it was mentioned online that I had been seen in hospital, so I feel now is the time to let people know what’s going on and this is the best way I can think of to do so.

‘My amazing mum, family and close friends are helping me through this, and I want to say a thank you to the wonderful NHS doctors and nurses who have been and continue to be heroes.’
