BTS breaks another world record with hit Dynamite as it bags ‘most simultaneous views for a music video’ on YouTube
BTS are no strangers when it comes to breaking records and their hit track Dynamite has just won the boys a new Guinness World Records title.
The K-pop boyband – made up of RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, V and Jungkook – were awarded with the the record for most simultaneous views for a music video on YouTube Premiere for their hit track, which was released last year.
The official Twitter account for Guinness World Records posted the achievement alongside a GIF of the BTS boys all giving a thumbs up and teased: ‘The worst kept secret in history.’
You see, the music video for Dynamite officially premiered on YouTube in August last year, but the Guinness World Records organisation were forced to wait it out for YouTube to confirm the video’s viewer count first, before they could officially hand out BTS’ new title.
It’s not the first Guinness World Record the band has, and when one fan joked: ‘You should make separate guinness book for BTS records,’ bosses replied: ‘They may have a nice spread in the upcoming book, so look out for that.’
BTS also set the record for most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours following Dynamite’s release, as well as the most viewed music video on YouTube in 23 hours.
Dynamite also holds the record for the highest number of YouTube viewers for a video premiere, with the video clocking up a huge 3-4million live concurrent viewers.
The music video currently has an impressive 9.3million views on YouTube.
As for Guinness World Records, in the 2019 edition BTS broke the record for the most viewed music video online in 24 hours by a K-pop group with their track DNA – which racked up 21 million views in just 24 hours.
BTS also beat Harry Styles to nab the record for most Twitter engagements.
Their latest record comes after BTS made history at the Grammy Awards and became the first K-pop band to be nominated in a major category, as they landed their first ever Grammys nod.
Dynamite produced the goods once again as the track saw the boys nominated in the category for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Sadly they missed out on the win to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for their collaboration Rain On Me and the BTS Army are nothing, if not, loyal as they responded to the loss by making the hashtag #Scammys trend on Twitter.
‘Literally how did bts not win a Grammy when they topped everyone in that category?? #scammys,’ one fan posted.
Another agreed: ‘Bts are more than the GRAMMYS. #scammys.’
