Rachel Riley has been feeling nostalgic on social media, celebrating St Patrick’s Day with a throwback post from a girls’ night out in Ireland with Countdown co-star Susie Dent.

The picture sees Rachel and Susie raise a glass and a smile in a Dublin pub, with the presenter looking back fondly at the memory.

‘From our girls trip to Dublin back in 2018 @susie_dent – Happy St Patrick’s Day to all celebrating!’ she wrote.

‘And apologies to all those offended – black velvet is the best!’

The Black Velvet cocktail Rachel is referring to, as Guinness fans will know, is a mix of the black stuff and Champagne.

St Patrick’s Day won’t be the same for many this year, with the UK and Ireland still in lockdown and people unable to enjoy a night out – and Rachel’s throwback is making us miss it more than ever.

Rachel was recently catfished on The Celebrity Circle for Stand Up To Cancer, with Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks pretending to be the presenter.

The reality stars attempted to fool their fellow contestants that they were the Countdown star, with Lady Leshurr going on to win the series after playing as rapper Big Narstie.

Meanwhile, Rachel has also reportedly put herself forward for Piers Morgan’s job on Good Morning Britain, having ‘celebrated’ after the presenter left the show on Tuesday.

Rachel has presented on Countdown since 2009 alongside lexicographer Susie, who has appeared on Dictionary Corner since 1992.

Countdown’s Susie recently won herself some new fans on Twitter with her pitch perfect word of the day ‘circumlocutionist: one who consistently speaks in a roundabout way in order to avoid addressing a question directly’ – seemingly throwing shade at Matt Hancock MP.
