Courteney Cox was seen pining after her boyfriend Johnny McDaid in a rare and very cute post on Instagram on St Patrick’s Day.

Celebrating her partner’s home country of Ireland, the Friends star, 56, told fans she was ‘missing her favourite Irishman’.

She and Johnny, 44, have been dating since 2013 – after being introduced by mutual friend Ed Sheeran – and the couple are known for bring pretty private when it comes to their relationship.

Over the last year, the pair were forced apart by the coronavirus pandemic and went nine months without seeing each other as Johnny was overseas in lockdown and Courteney was at home in California.

Despite reuniting over Christmas, it seems the pair have been pulled apart once more, with Courteney reaching out to her man on social media.

Sharing personal snaps of the pair together, Courteney wrote on Instagram: ‘Happy St. Paddy’s Day! I’m missing my favourite Irishman and family.’

Declaring her love for her musician beau, Courteney added: ‘I love you.’

Courteney and Johnny – who got engaged in 2014, but later decided not to get married after a brief split – have had to get used to long distance, with the Scream actress marking 200 days without seeing Johnny in October.

She shared her despair at not physically seeing her long-time love over lockdown, with Courteney telling Foy Vance on his Vinyl Supper podcast: ‘At first I was like, “Wow, what do I do with myself?”‘

Courteney said that she threw herself into learning to cook so much that she’s now perfected it, as she explained: ‘I haven’t seen John in that many days, he left when the country shut down – the day before.’

The star, who is best known for playing Monica Gellar in hit US sitcom Friends, said she missed Sundays with her man, but her friends had been checking in on her and keeping her company.

‘I have these two friends, they were going to quarantine with me, which is great because if I can’t be with John, I don’t wanna be just by myself with Coco – I’m a little chicken.’

Courteney is mum to daughter Coco, 16, who she shares with ex-husband David Arquette.

During an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres in May last year, Courteney revealed that boyfriend Johnny had been on his way to Switzerland when the pandemic first him.

He found himself forced to quarantine in England after stopping there first and the country going into lockdown.

‘I have not seen him for so long,’ Courteney said as she revealed how the pair were using social media to stay in touch.

‘We spend a lot of time on Facebook,’ she said, adding: ‘But I just miss his physical touch.’
