Daniel Ricciardo Praises Seidl’s ‘German Efficiency’ for Transforming McLaren F1
Daniel Ricciardo joined McLaren this season on a three-year contract to continue the team’s path back to glory. The Woking outfit had also brought on board Andreas Seidl as the team’s principal in 2019. A year later, the German motorsport engineer helped McLaren claim their best finish since 2012.
McLaren signed Daniel Ricciardo to help build on their 2020 result. After a successful pre-season testing, the Australian talks about Andreas Seidl, who seems to have already left an impression on the new McLaren driver.
“I really like Andreas. He is a good operator and I think he has contributed a lot to the team and contributed to the structure.”
“Even just some of the discipline in the team, I feel like he is definitely a good guy to be around McLaren right now and I am looking forward to learning more about him and working more with Andreas. So far, so good, German efficiency,” said the Australian.

Daniel Ricciardo needs more time to adapt to his new team
McLaren were definitely one of the winners of the pre-season testing. Although Mercedes and Aston Martin seemed to struggle with their Mercedes power unit, the Woking outfit had no troubles managing theirs. Ricciardo’s first official outfit with McLaren was very successful.
“From a race weekend, dialling in the strategic stuff with the team and going through, let’s say, a race simulation, I’m pretty comfortable.”
However, the Australian believes that he needs more time to get comfortable with the car. “So it’s just me getting comfortable within myself and the car. It naturally takes a bit of time but I don’t really want to give myself the time,” explained the Australian.
Daniel Ricciardo had an impressive test run in Bahrain and finished on top of the morning session twice through the weekend. Do you believe Daniel Ricciardo will better his lap times as the season begins? Let us know!
