Floyd Mayweather. The name is synonymous with success and glory in the boxing community and beyond. In a career of over two decades, Mayweather has produced several inspiring moments, reaching the top of the sport. That said, several young boxers desire to be like him.

Donning championships in five distinct divisions with an undefeated run of 50 fights is clearly something that any professional boxer would like to attain. So, Mayweather has expressed his respect towards the ones that idolize him, as he recalled his past and revealed of idolizing several greats, back when he was active. Mayweather connected with Rob Moore and opened up on the scenario.

“I take my hat off to all fighters, that paved the way for me to be where I am at. And I take my hat off to all young fighters now, that’s trying to be the next Floyd Mayweather. I was just dedicated to my craft and kept pushing and kept believing and kept working extremely hard,” said Floyd Mayweather.

Aged 44, Mayweather still has the itch to fight, and recently announced his return to action in an exhibition against Logan Paul. While he still appears to be in his prime physical shape, young boxers can learn a lot from it.

Floyd Mayweather and the modern era champions

WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney compared himself with ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd after fans ridiculed his title defense against Yuriorkis Gamboa. Despite unveiling a tactical showdown and dominating Gamboa for all the 12 rounds, fans bashed ‘The Dream’ for failing to claim a stoppage. That’s when Haney tweeted out and idolized Mayweather.

Unified 135 lbs champion Teofimo Lopez has also expressed his respect for Mayweather while speaking about the current lightweight roster. Before vanquishing Vasyl Lomachenko in a massive blockbuster, Lopez said, I mean, everyone wants to be like Mayweather. In order to be like Mayweather, you gotta be like ‘Pretty Boy’ first. You gotta fight those guys that they think you are not gonna win.”

Meanwhile, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis resides under Mayweather’s promotion. He is one of the top-prodigy over there and fans bill him to be a perfect successor to Mayweather’s throne. As ‘Tank’ also trains with Mayweather, he is already turning an elite in his journey.

It’s clear that Mayweather clearly has left an impact on this young generation, While they continue to gain inspiration from him, it shows how great of an ambassador Floyd Mayweather is. Not just inside the squared circle, but even outside of it.
