The reigning winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Giovanna Fletcher has revealed that she hasn’t put her red gilet in the wash since she returned home from Gwrych Castle, admitting that it has a little bit of a stench.
In December 2020, podcaster Giovanna was crowned the first ever Queen of the Castle in I’m A Celebrity, after the competition moved from Australia to Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Having gained a horde of adoring fans thanks to her generous and caring nature in the castle, Giovanna beat radio DJ Jordan North and TV presenter Vernon Kay in the final to come home with the crown.
On Wednesday’s episode of Lorraine, Lorraine Kelly spoke to the author via video chat, questioning her on the I’m A Celeb gilet she could see hanging on the back of her door.
‘Is that your top that you wore?’ Lorraine asked, to which Giovanna replied: ‘That’s my gilet and my fleece, yes, and I haven’t washed it.’
The Queen of the Castle explained that just like with her wedding dress from her when she tied the knot with McFly band member Tom Fletcher in 2012, she didn’t want to get rid of its ‘essence’ by putting it in the washing machine.
‘I’ve done that thing that I did with my wedding dress – I didn’t want to wash them because I want to keep its essence of what I experienced,’ she said.
‘I sniffed it earlier – it does not smell good! It does not smell good,’ she added light-heartedly.
Giovanna and her fellow I’m A Celeb campmates formed quite a bond during their time on the show, going on to create a WhatsApp group named Happy Place after Jordan’s signature phrase.
She revealed that they’re all hoping they’ll be able to meet up in the near future, during which time they’ll also hopefully be able to introduce their families to each other for the first time.
Giovanna told Lorraine that just the other day, she called on Olympian athlete Sir Mo Farah for running tips when she went for a 5K run.
After sharing a post on Instagram documenting her run and then sending a video to Sir Mo, he responded to her telling her well done and to keep going, she recalled.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
