Jeremy Edwards admits he regrets turning down big money offers (we’re talking £2million big money) for photos of his relationship with ex-fiancée Rachel Stevens.

The former Hollyoaks star, 50, and S Club 7 singer Rachel, 42, dated for almost four years and had got engaged in 2002.

Jeremy popped the question after 18-months of the pair dating and it’s fair to say that he and Rachel were pretty much the power couple of the 2000s – at least for us S Club fans.

Recalling the attention on their relationship, Jeremy admits it was what eventually pulled himself and Rachel apart and they eventually split in 2004.

However, looking back, Jeremy admits he does have one regret and that’s not pocketing the mountains of cash that the duo were offered for photos of their romance.

He revealed that the pair were offered ‘stupid amounts of money’, including one £2million deal to sell pictures of their wedding, honeymoon, first baby – all the major relationship milestones.

Speaking on the Soap From The Box podcast, Jeremy said: ‘We could not go anywhere. I kid you not, we’d go on a holiday and there would be a helicopter circling with people trying to take photos of us by the pool.’

‘We were offered stupid amounts of money, £2million… and I turned it down. I just thought, “This is ridiculous…” I wish I’d done it,’ he confessed.

‘I could have made a sh*t load of money and had a bit more privacy. I’d be living in the Bahamas or something,’ he joked.

On a more serious note, Jeremy explained that it was the heightened attention on his relationship with Rachel that eventually led to them calling it quits.

‘The attention was the destruction of our relationship, both Rachel and I agreed that the pressure was so much when we got engaged,’ he said.

Jeremy insisted that his split from Rachel was nothing but amicable and that the pair still loved each other at the time, but they knew that, in the long run, the relationship wasn’t going to work.

Their break up doesn’t mean that the pair aren’t still friends, though, with Jeremy revealing that he knows Rachel’s husband Alex Bourne and she’s met his wife Lydia Metz.

Jeremy and Lydia are parents to daughter Scarlett, three, and announced in December that they are expecting their second child.

Both kids were conceived via IVF, with Jeremy opening up on the couple’s struggle to fall pregnant to OK! magazine, as he said: ‘We’re incredibly excited but the main feeling has been relief.

‘Scarlett was conceived through IVF and so was this baby. We feel very blessed, as the process is actually really tough on Lyds.’

Rachel, meanwhile, is mum to two daughters she shares with husband Alex; Amelie, 10, and Minnie, six.
