Melissa McCarthy recovering in hospital after terrifying Huntsman spider bite
Melissa McCarthy wound up in hospital after a Huntsman spider bit her.
The 50-year-old, who has been in Australia filming the TV show Nine Perfect Strangers and the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, told fans of the unfortunate news in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Poking fun at her predicament, the comedian shared footage of her recovering in between an ironic interview of her claiming that she loved that ‘all bugs and creatures can kill you’ in Australia.
Much to the horror of arachnophobes across the glove, the hospital footage showed her wincing in agony while covered in bandages and a towel on her head.
Melissa wrote in her caption: ‘After professing my love of Australian critters to InStyle magazine, I was quickly reminded by someone that I was conveniently forgetting the aftermath of some of those “magical” bites’.
Given her humour on the situation, it looks like the star is set to make a full recovery.
Her scary spider bite aside, Melissa has been making the most of her time in Australia since arriving a few months prior.
She will star alongside Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder – which is currently filming.
Proving that her schedule has been jam-packed over the last year, Melissa has also filmed scenes for Nicole Kidman’s Nine Perfect Strangers.
The TV adaptation of the popular book by Liane Moriarty will also feature a star-studded cast of Tiffany Boone, Luke Evans, Regina Hall and Samara Weaving.
This comes after the release of the first trailer for Melissa’s Netflix comedy Thunder Force, starring Octavia Spencer. The actresses play best friends with superpowers in the film.
Thunder Force will be available for viewers on April 9 on streaming site Netflix.
