Olivia Jade’s father Mossimo Giannulli confronted a guidance counsellor and branded him a ‘nosey b*****d’ when he almost blew the lid off the college admissions scandal.

YouTuber Olivia became the unintentional poster child for the multi-million dollar scam in 2019, when it was discovered her parents – fashion designer Mossimo and Full House actress Lori Loughlin – paid Rick Singer to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California (USC) via an illegal ‘side door’ scam.

Paying off athletics director Donna Heinel with a ‘donation’ in 2017, Olivia and older sister Isabella were pushed to the front of the admissions line as ‘recruits for the rowing team’ despite never taking part in the sport.

In new Netflix documentary Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal, it’s revealed that Olivia’s Marymount High School guidance counsellor nearly rumbled the scam in 2017, during a routine discussion over potential admissions threw up a red flag.

An internal report from the counsellor states: ‘When we got to Olivia, USC said she was “flagged” as a recruit for the crew team.

‘I told him I had no knowledge of Olivia’s involvement in crew, and based on what I knew of her video blogging schedule highly doubted she was involved in the sport.’

But the comments soon made their way to Mr Giannulli, who decided to confront him.

‘I received a call from downstairs that Mr Giannulli was downstairs and wanted to talk to me,’ the counsellor’s report continues.

‘When we sat down in my office, he aggressively asked what I was telling USC about his daughters and why I was trying to ruin or get in the way of their opportunities.

‘His tone made me visibly nervous.’

As well as this, government reports state that Olivia, Mossimo and wife Lori Loughlin all engaged in conversations on how to avoid the counsellor getting involved and foiling their plans.

Naomi Jade, staff writer at The New Yorker, explains: ‘Olivia Jade asked whether she should list USC as her top choice school, and Lori replied “Yes, but it might be a flag for the weasel to meddle”.

‘Mossimo added to that “f**k him” and said that he was a “nosey b*****d”.’

When Singer’s scheme was discovered in 2019, Lori and Mossimo were arrested for their involvement, and were later convicted and served prison sentences

Dozens of high-powered parents, from CEOs and actress Felicity Huffman, were also charged for their involvement.

In late 2020, Olivia made a public apology for her role in the scheme, vowing to ‘do better’ as she appeared on Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Red Table Talk to speak out about what happened.

In the candid conversation, Olivia said: ‘We had the means to do something and we completely took it and ran with it. It was something that was wrong.

‘It really can’t be excused. On paper, it’s bad — it’s really bad. But I think what a lot of people don’t know is, my parents came from a place of just, “I love my kids I just want to help my kids — whatever is best for them — I worked my whole life to provide for my family”.

‘I think they thought it was normal.’

Operation Varsity Blues: College Admissions Scandal airs March 17 on Netflix.
