Jeremy Clarkson has been sporting a bold new look in lockdown after growing a huge beard, but he’s confirmed it’ll soon be a thing of the past.

The Grand Tour presenter’s facial hair caused a stir among fans, with some comparing him to Santa and Harry Potter character Hagrid after he revealed it on Instagram last month.

When asked about the new look by DriveTribe, Jeremy said he had been spending lockdown ‘growing face hair’ – despite the fact he ‘doesn’t even like it’.

Speaking about the beard, he commented: ‘This is coming off on Sunday. It was a project. It was something to do. You know, some people learn how to make sourdough bread. Some people have been learning French.

‘I thought I’d grow a beard and see what it’s like to be a socialist. I don’t like it. It’s coming off.’

The fan reaction came after Jeremy famously expressed his strong feelings against men sporting beards in 2015 – forgetting that he himself grew one in 2014.

Writing in his column for The Sun at the time, Jeremy said: ‘It makes you look like you’ve got something to hide — a dodgy hard drive usually. Or a stash of disgusting magazines.

The presenter is currently preparing for his new farming show on Amazon Prime Video, as well as an upcoming episode of The Grand Tour set in Scotland.

‘It’s Clarkson, Hammond and May unplugged,’ he said, describing the new special.

‘We’re not abroad, we’re not dealing with extreme heat or extreme cold or extreme terrain really. It’s like what we used to do years and years and years ago. It’s a bit cold and it rains a lot.’

He added: ‘Hammond had an accident. May tries to be interesting, which is hilarious. It’s a fun program. It’s good. I think a lot of people will like Scotland.’

Meanwhile, Jeremy has also paid tribute to Top Gear star Sabine Schmitz, who had died at the age of 51.

The Grand Tour is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
