AEW Dynamite ended on a brutal note as Britt Baker had blood filling her eyes during her match with Thunder Rosa.

The two wrestlers main evented last night’s St. Patrick’s Day special – making them the first women to do so on the promotion’s weekly flagship show – in a Lights Out match.

The defining image – which has already drawn comparisons to the late Eddie Guerrero and even horror classic Carrie – is undoubtedly Baker standing in the ring with her face, hair and chest covered in blood.

Although Rosa won the match, her opponent shared the snap and wrote: ‘The bad news is… you forgot to kill me. Face of the women’s division.’

However, the victorious NWA champ responded: ‘You can be the face of a Division my goal is to be the Face of Wrestling period! (sic)’

Not surprisingly, the wrestling world has reacted in a big way to their match, with both superstars exceeding the already sky high expectations for the bout.

AEW owner Tony Khan tweeted: ‘What a great main event, thank you to everyone who joined us tonight for the Lights Out Match, @thunderrosa22 vs. Dr. @RealBrittBaker, the culmination of a classic rivalry as a 4 month story paid off in one of the greatest & most memorable main event matches ever on #AEWDynamite! (sic)’

Commentator Excalibur added: ‘I said it was going to be a war, but that may have been the understatement of the century.

‘Congratulations to @thunderrosa22 for a hard fought victory, though nothing but respect for @RealBrittBaker as well. Brutality at its most brutal.’

And referee Aubrey Edwards also heaped praise on the match, revealing she was incredibly emotional when all was said and done.

She wrote: ‘Annnnnnnnnd I’m in tears. That was beautiful. Violent and bloody and absolutely beautiful.’

WWE superstar Chelsea Green also shared a picture of real life dentist Britt and was clearly taken aback by the brutality.

After recently sparking a social media trend with female wrestlers sharing their own intense injury photos alongside stunning bikini pictures, she tweeted a snap of Britt and simply wrote: ‘I mean…’
