One of the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has revealed why the head judge can’t go out of his way to personally contact them after the series has been filmed.

In the final of Drag Race UK series two, Bimini Bon-Boulash, Lawrence Chaney, Tayce and Ellie Diamond are set to go up against each other in a bid for the crown.

The season was filmed throughout 2020, with a seven-month hiatus in between due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During a recent Zoom chat with Metro.co.uk and other press, Bimini opened up about whether they’ve heard from Ru since filming came to an end.

While the queens of the cast do keep in touch, Bimini admitted that in order to remain impartial, Ru can’t be shown to ‘have favourites’ by speaking to queens outside of the show.

After joking that they ‘blocked’ Ru’s number because the phone ‘wouldn’t stop ringing’, Bimini said: ‘Ru’s got to be diplomatic and not get involved I think so much, like, they can’t have favourites or anything. So Ru can’t message.’

Sounds fair… but what we wouldn’t love to hear what Ru’s favourite Drag Race memes are behind the scenes.

While Bimini might not have heard from Ru in the months since filming, fellow series two star Joe Black recently had a hilarious exchange with judge Michelle Visage in the DMs.

Joe was the first queen to be eliminated, before returning to the competition after the seven-month break and then being told to ‘sashay away’ for a second time.

Joe’s return saw one of the most iconic moments of the series, when Ru ranted furiously about the queen’s decision to wear an H&M dress for a musical challenge.

The Brighton cabaret star later privately messaged judge Michelle when he noticed her seemingly wearing H&M accessories in a picture shared on social media.

‘Just before I watched the episode I spoke briefly to Michelle, because she had put up a picture from a look from [Drag Race US] season 13 and she had credited the earrings as being from H&M,’ he told Metro.co.uk.

‘I replied to Michelle and I said, “They’re from f**king where?!”’

Joe added that Michelle later corrected the credit for the earrings, as it turned out they weren’t actually H&M.

‘But I was ready to go tell her what I think,’ he added in jest.

BBC Three brings the final episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK to BBC iPlayer from 7pm Thursday March 18.
