Dying Light 2 release date is 2021 vows Techland in new update

Despite a series of setbacks developer Techland are now assuring fans that Dying Light 2 will be out this year after all.

Things had got so bad with the lack of info on Dying Light 2, and stories of troubled development and departing staff, that some fans had begun to fear the whole game would be cancelled, or at least seriously delayed, but apparently the situation is rosier than initially feared.

The pessimism was understandable given Techland hasn’t had an update on the game in basically a year, but now they’ve broken their silence and while they’ve insisted the game is not in development hell they do admit they announced it too early.

The much anticipated new video update was short on any real details though, so it wasn’t quite the hype reboot that many were hoping for.

Even though the video is less than three minutes long most of it is filler, with Techland spending most of their time reading out emails from angry fans.

‘This is a huge and complex project and we needed time to make sure it will live up to our vision,’ say the devs. ‘All of us here are putting our hearts into delivering a game that you will keep playing for months.’

There’s barely 15 second of new gameplay footage and the whole thing is basically a waste of time until they drop the bombshell that Dying Light 2 will be released this year.

Presumably not until much later in the year, given how little has been seen of it lately, but Techland are now promising they’ll be ready to talk about it in detail, ‘very, very soon’.
