RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Tayce dropped an impressive A-list connection on tonight’s finale by revealing that her dad was in Wham!

After keeping her music connection secret throughout the series, Tayce revealed to Ru and Michelle Visage that her dad helped George Michael and Andrew Ridgely get the iconic band off the ground.

In a final chat with Ru and Michelle, Tayce opened up about life as a black family in Newport, Wales, saying that her white mother was often given strange looks for having four mixed race children.

When Ru asked if her parents were still together, Tayce responded: ‘They were together for a good 20 years. My dad used to be in Wham, and play the bass guitar in Wham.’

Roger Radix appeared on Wham’s first album, and notably performed with them during their Top Of The Pop’s debut in 1982, playing bass on catchy pop hit Young Guns (Go For It!).

He later performed on tracks including Bad Boys and Wham! Rap.

Deon Estus would later replace him as a full-time member of the band and close collaborator with George and Andrew.

‘He’s always been one of my biggest supporters,’ the finalist said. ‘My first single I bought on a physical CD was Moulin Rouge – Lady Marmalade. Lil kim, Christina… andI remember just walking into my dad’s work office and just being like “Dad, listen to this!”

‘I was always prancing around in wigs, they fully let me go and just let me be myself, and I’ve just always been so blessed and privileged.

‘I have so many friends that have literally been kicked out because they’re gay and don’t speak to their family at all and are so estranged, so that’s something that I really take seriously, and I’m so proud of.’

Now Tayce has become a chart-topper too – after United Kingdolls track UK Hun made it to number one on the iTunes chart during the Drag Race UK season two run.

On tonight’s episode, Tayce battled it out with Bimini Bon Boulash, Ellie Diamond and Lawrence Chaney for the win.

She is also the first queen in show her-story to survive four lip-syncs for your life.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is available on BBC iPlayer (UK) and WOW Presents Plus (Rest Of World).
