WWE has confirmed Eric Bischoff will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The company – which recently announced there would be two classes for next month’s ceremony after last year’s even was cancelled due to the pandemic – has revealed the former WCW boss and ex-Raw General Manager will be honoured in the Class of 2021.

Bischoff was told about the exciting news during his appearance on WWE’s After The Bell podcast.

The company later said on WWE.com: ‘For Bischoff’s innovation behind the scenes and his memorable performance in front of the camera, there is no greater honour than induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.’

They added: ‘Eric Bischoff, a pioneer behind the scenes in sports-entertainment, as well as an incredibly entertaining performer in front of the camera, is the latest inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2021.

‘He was surprised with the news of his induction on WWE After the Bell, which you can listen and subscribe to on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

‘He will enter the WWE Hall of Fame during the 2021 Induction Ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, April 6, streaming exclusively on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network in the rest of the world.’

He joins Molly Holly as the two confirmed inductees for this year’s class.

Meanwhile, Eric – who was one of WCW’s masterminds during the Monday Night Wars against Vince McMahon’s promotion – recently weighed in on why he doesn’t watch as much wrestling as he used to, and what it is that makes him tune into other shows.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think that’s a product of me getting older, and my interests are different now. I don’t really sit around and watch a lot of television, and when I do, the type of television I’m watching is a lot different than professional wrestling.

‘I love great storytelling, I love great camera work – obviously great acting goes with a great story.

‘I tend to watch dramatic period pieces – like Peaky Blinders, for example, one of my favourite shows. And there’s a few other shows that are in that category that I really enjoy watching because they’re just so well-written and so well-produced.’
