Coachella hit with more delays as festival is ‘rescheduled to 2022 after being pushed back for fourth time’
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has reportedly been cancelled this year and will make its grand return in 2022.
According to Variety, the star-studded music event has been pushed back for the fourth time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The two-weekend festival, held annually in Indio, California, was slated to take place mid-April last year, before it was rescheduled for October, then again for April 2021.
The newly rescheduled dates for Coachella have yet to be confirmed – but it is believed it will take place in April 2022.
A source told Variety that the reason for postponing the festival again was due to the ‘ongoing uncertainty over the Covid-19 pandemic’.
Coachella is a major hit with celebrities, with the likes of Vanessa Hudgens, Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner in regular attendance.
Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Rage Against the Machine were slated to perform among others at Coachella this year.
It was first reported that Coachella would be cancelled this year back in January, with Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr Cameron Kaiser signing an order, calling for all April events to be cancelled.
A tweet from Dr Kaiser’s account reads: ‘Due to the pandemic, Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser today (Jan. 29) signed a public health order cancelling Coachella Valley Music and Arts, Stagecoach Country Music festivals planned for April 2021.
‘We look forward to when the events may return.’
Variety has also claimed that the popular country music festival, Stagecoach, has also been pushed back.
There hasn’t been much luck on British soil, with the cancellation of Glastonbury 2021 announced at the start of the year.
Michael and Emily Eavis confirmed that the 2021 festival would not go ahead, saying they would be having another ‘enforced fallow year’.
The iconic festival, which attracts around 200,000 revellers each year, was set to begin June 27.
