Emily Atack says horrific online sexual harassment makes her ‘scared’ of living alone

Emily Atack has opened up about how men who send her vile, sexually explicit messages on social media have made her afraid to be alone at home.

The actress revealed that she has had messages from men claiming they can see through her windows.

She also has to deal with strangers sending ‘hundreds and hundreds’ of horrific messages online.

In an interview with Unilad, Emily recalled one night when a man on a bike followed her home after an evening out.

The Celebrity Juice star said: ‘It does make me feel scared to live on my own. I’ve had people messaging me knowing that I live on my own, saying that they’re outside with a telescope and they know what my cushions look like on my sofa.

‘Recently a guy actually followed me home, it was when we were allowed to go to the pub again. I was walking home and it wasn’t that late, and he’s riding up next to me and I’m walking on and he was saying, “I know what you like, I know what sort of girl you are, You f***ing…you love being single, let me show you what I can do to you.”

‘That was physically in the flesh. I ran indoors and I was so upset and so frightened. I have that man in my ear but just constantly online. It starts to chip away at you.’

The Inbetweeners actress also read out some of the nasty things that had been sent to her, admitting that she was ‘shaking’ as she read them.

‘What frightens me is that is the persona that I’ve always put out there to people,’ Emily said, ‘so it’s people saying to me “I know that’s what you’re like so that’s why I’m gonna say this to you.”‘

Emily admitted that she has to remind herself that she is not blame.

‘I’ve posed in my underwear for lads mags, and I’ve written sketch shows about my one night stands and laughed about it, and I’ve got a cleavage, my cleavage is out today,’ said Emily.

‘”Yeah but what do you expect Em?”, and I go, “why am I thinking that?”

‘Makes me question everything that I am and everything that I put out there.’

12 minutes with Emily Atack is available on UNILAD’s channels.
